Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada commends organisers of Ghanafest Toronto

Accra, July 27, GNA – Mr. Anselm Ransford Sowah, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada has commended the organizers of the Ghana Festival of Arts and Culture (Ghanafest) for their efforts to promote unity and togetherness.

He also praised them for continuing to celebrate the country’s rich Ghanaian culture and diversity.

Ghana’s High Commissioner made the commendation at the 2023 Ghanafest held in Toronto, Canada.

The Ghanfest has come to symbolize the unity of the community in appreciation of the beautiful culture of the Ghanaian people across Canada.

The festival brought the Ghanaian community in Canada together under one roof to enjoy the rich culture, food, music, art, and traditions.

It had local and traditional foods like banku, jollof, fried yams, and waakye with local snacks including kelewele, boflot on display.

More than 2,000 patrons attended the event, making it the most attended in its history.

This year’s Ghanafest is the most patronized in the 10-year history of the event.

Mr. Bismark Otoo, President of the Ghanaian Association of Ottawa (Canada), said the festival was aimed at bringing Ghanaians in the diaspora especially those around Ottawa and its surroundings together.

He said Ghanafest allowed African teenagers get to know their roots and learn about their culture.

The highlight of the event was a football match between the Ghanaian community and their Ugandan side.

The match ended in a goalless draw with the Ghanaian side winning on a 5:4 penalty against their Ugandan counterpart.
