Trust Sports Emporium outlines strategic plan to support lesser-funded sports

Accra, May 26, GNA – Management of Trust Sports Emporium Limited (TSEL), a leading multi-purpose sports and entertainment hub has pledged to use its facilities to help promote lesser-funded sports in the country.

Ghana has been struggling to revamp its sports ecosystem, most especially in the area of boxing, badminton, table tennis, swimming, fencing, among others.

Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, Madam Shirley Acquah-Harisson, Managing Director of TSEL said, it was part of the company’s vision to use its facilities as a tool to nurture sportsmen and women in the various sport disciplines.

“I stand before you to share the story, vision, and accomplishments of this remarkable hub dedicated and committed to promoting the lesser funded sports, and an active lifestyle and wellness.

“The Emporium is to serve as a hub for sports associations, sports enthusiasts, athletes, and fitness enthusiasts to engage in various competitions and also access top-notch amenities,” she indicated.

She noted that despite the progress made so far, TSEL was still battling to get corporate Ghana on board to sponsor least-financed sports federations.

According to her, management had over the last couple of years, reduced the prices of their facilities to aid federations organise competitions to enable them to remain competitive.

The Managing Director said Trust Sports Emporium Limited would in the coming weeks, organise some sports clinics with corporate Ghana and sports associations to hold discussions on how to build a fruitful relationship among each other.

“As a business person, you want where you can get a lot of people but I believe that if you look at the medals that Ghana has received, boxing has a lot more medals than football, however sponsorship is sometimes down,” she added.

Madam Shirley Acquah-Harisson urged other entities to come on board and support these lesser-known sports federations and associations achieve their goals.

She assured support to the Ministry of Youth and Sports ahead of the 13th African Games, adding that it had made facilities available to train athletes.

Trust Sports Emporium Limited, completed in 2018, is a multi-sports facility developed with a special focus on creating a pipeline of world champions.

The hub has facilities such as the Bukom Boxing Arena, Bukom Fitness and Physio, Ga Mashie Hall and Gym, Mudor Conference Centre, Ring Restaurant and Sports Bar, Bukom International Pool, Trust International Hostel, among others.
