Bulgarian Mirela Ivanova Shortlisted for European Poet of Freedom Award

Sofia, Nov 26 (BTA/GNA) – Bulgarian Mirela Ivanova is among six European poets who have been shortlisted for the European Poet of Freedom (EPF) award. EPF is a literary award, poetry festival and publishing series presenting volumes of authors shortlisted in the competition. The EPF is organized every two years, with the next edition scheduled to take place in Gdansk in spring 2024.

“I am grateful for the European Freedom Poet award nomination. Even its name describes me from end to end,” Ivanova told BTA.

The other finalists are Darko Cvetic (Croatia), Monika Herceg (Croatia), Anja Eramaja (Finland), Arvis Viguls (Latvia), and Miriam Van Hee (Netherlands).

The European Poet of Freedom nomination is yet another international recognition for Mirela Ivanova’s poetry. In 2002, she received the Hermann Lenz Prize for Modern Poetry from Eastern and Southeastern Europe. In 2008, Ivanova received a one-year writing scholarship from the Bavarian Minister of Culture.
