Accra, Sept 24, GNA – Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, has charged the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) to join hands and develop the sport to the level of football and boxing in Ghana.
The Ga Mantse made this call when the delegation presented the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy to him and other chiefs at the Ga Traditional Council during the trophy’s two-day visit in Accra.
Speaking at the event, the king expressed his excitement having received the trophy as the leader of the Ga traditional council.
He said he was concerned about seeing young individuals who would want to learn and make the sport a better one, thereby beginning from the grassroots.
The head of the Ga traditional council further tasked the delegation from ICC and GCA to work hand in hand to champion the project of creating awareness on the sport to compete with other sporting disciplines in the country.
He gave his support to the GCA to team up with them to construct a cricket oval in the Greater Accra Region.
The delegation thanked the Ga Mantse for accepting to promote the sport in Ghana and promised to work hard to develop and promote the sport.
The 2022 World Cup trophy will leave the shores of Ghana today as many individuals seek to catch a glimpse of the trophy.
