Accra, Aug.30, GNA – Mr Mustapha Ussif, Minister for Youth and Sports has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to focus on the development of grassroots football to unearth talents to feed the various national teams.
Speaking at the 28th GFA Ordinary Congress on Tuesday at the Ghanaman Soccer of Excellence, Mr Ussif said, “We should pay attention to the development of grassroots football. I request of the football fraternity to develop young talents.”
He said football was the only tool which promotes unity in the country hence the need to harness players at the grassroots level.
He lauded the Government’s commitment to develop sports infrastructure which included the construction of ten multipurpose stadia and Astro turfs across the country.
Also hinting on the current scandals in the BetPawa Premier League, Mr Mustapha Ussif applauded the GFA for acting against clubs and individuals who were found culpable in match fixing.
