Ga North Presiding Member retains position

Accra, July 22, GNA – Mr Kweku Duah, the Presiding Member (PM) of the Ga North Municipal Assembly has been re-elected for the second term to steer the affairs of the Assembly.

All the 19 assembly members voted in his favour as he stood unopposed.

Mr Duah in a speech expressed gratitude to the members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work in harmony with all to propel the assembly to a greater height.

“We will work hard to complete unfinished projects and tackle new ones,” he said.

The PM stated that the assembly would carry out more sensitization exercises on the need for citizens to pay their revenue to ensure development across the board and urged assembly members to stay united and be good ambassadors of the assembly.

Mr Duah called on the residents to visit the assembly to seek redress for all developmental challenges facing them in the municipality.

Mr Simon Sekyem, the Municipal Chief Executive of the area congratulated the PM on his successful re-election.

He described the voting exercise as one of the most democratic and peaceful within the assemblies in the region, saying that some elections somewhere were characterized by disputes and acrimonies.

Mr Sekyem said the major challenges of the assembly were roads, sanitation, and the payment of rates and that they would draw out strategies to resolve all such issues consciously and reiterated the call for residents to constantly pay their taxes for the implementation of projects.
