United Nations: More than 2 million refugees from Ukraine

Geneva, Mar. 8, (dpa/GNA) – More than 2 million people have fled Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion, the United Nations reported in Geneva on Tuesday.

Most of the people had gone to Poland as well as Hungary, Romania, Moldova and Slovakia, said a spokeswoman for the UN refugee agency (UNHCR).

According to the UN Organization for Migration (IOM), some 100,000 people from other countries are among them.

Ukraine had more than 44 million inhabitants before the war began.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is trying to supply hospitals with materials. There is a particularly great need in the east of the country, where fighting has made supply extremely difficult.
