Women’s Premier League: Resurgent Army Ladies rally back to beat Faith Ladies 2-1

Accra, Jan. 30, GNA – Resurgent Army Ladies rallied from behind to defeat visitors, Faith Ladies 2-1 in match-day seven of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra on Saturday.

Faith ladies’ Esther Yiadom put her side ahead after 20 minutes before N-Nyanyimaya Gnabekan cancelled the lead five minutes after for Vera Bema to double lead for Army ladies.

It was Yiadom, who opened the scores for the visitors with a smart finish, leaving the goalkeeper, Evelyn Yeboah in a state of confusion.

Coach Norbert Ayinbire’ Army Ladies kept on pushing the ball in the half of the visitors till Gnabekan’s curling shot levelled the scoring in the 25th minute of the game.

Faith Ladies, guided by Edna Quagraine ended the first half on a sad note after Bema slotted home a lose ball in the 43rd minute to put the visitors behind.

Army Ladies came into the second half defending their lead whiles Faith Ladies also kept on pushing to at least snatch a point, but the homers were resolute at the back to maintain their maximum points.

The home team held Faith Ladies till the final whistle was blown.

This would be Army Ladies’ third consecutive with to grab nine points out of a possible 21 whilst their opponent stuck to the eight points.

At the end of regulation time, Faith Ladies’ Margaret Agyapomah was adjudged the Nasco best player.
