Accra, Jan. 28, GNA – DPO Group has partnered with Mastercard to enable thousands of businesses in Ghana to offer their customers greater choice and convenience by pivoting online and accepting digital payments.
Through the collaboration, DPO will leverage Mastercard’s digital payments technology to enable merchants to safely, seamlessly and securely accept a wide range of digital payment methods, including mobile money and via e-wallets, both locally and from abroad in the currency of their choice.
Mr Bossman Kwapong, the Country Manager for Mastercard in Ghana, said the collaboration between the two companies would enable businesses in Ghana to expand by accepting digital payments.
The collaboration will help small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which are critical to the growth of the economy and international companies to process payments via a simple integration to a single platform, equipped with strong protection against online fraud and support for refunds, chargebacks and more.
The businesses will also have access to the DPO store, an e-commerce plug and play solution available in more than 20 countries in which DPO operates.
As part of the partnership, DPO and Mastercard will also provide training for Ghanaian firms and entrepreneurs on how to maximise business growth and manage risk with smart use of digital payments.
He said through the innovative partnership, DPO would leverage Mastercard’s digital payments technology to enable businesses in Ghana to accept a wide range of digital payment methods safely, seamlessly and securely.
The Country Manager said the COVID-19 pandemic had highlighted the importance of digitization of payments, especially in enabling retail and commerce transactions.
“E-Commerce has seen significant growth in Ghana in recent years, with the value of digital transactions increasing by 120 per cent between February 2020 and February 2021, and this collaboration aims to further this growth even more in 2022 and beyond,” he added.
He said as a result of this, businesses, especially small to medium enterprises, were under overwhelming pressure to adjust their business operations and adapt to the evolving demands of their customers.
Mr Kwapong said the increase in demand for digital solutions, renders the Company an opportunity to provide solutions that enable businesses to accept payments for their products and services through more innovative, convenient, secure, and seamless means.
“Through this collaboration, we have created a powerful digital ecosystem in which businesses of all sizes can pivot to online channels, get paid, improve cash flow, attract more customers – all while staying safe and protected from cyber risks and fraud,” he said.
The Country Manager said Mastercard’s partnership with DPO was an important milestone in advancing Mastercard’s worldwide commitment to financial inclusion with the vision to bring a total of one billion people and 50 million micro and small businesses into the digital economy by 2025.
He said by working with DPO, they would enable businesses of all sizes across several countries to access seamless transactions thanks to their joint solution removing barriers so their merchants could track and reconcile all their payments.
“We are also providing a frictionless payment process for businesses in Ghana looking to grow and reach more customers through secure digital payments,” he said.
He said Mastercard was enabling SMEs in Ghana to increase their business and revenue by tapping into new payment flows.
