Assin South MP inspects 32km road at Assin Edubiase.

Assin Edubiase (C/R), Jan.20, GNA- Rev. John Ntim Fordjor, Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South has inspected the on-going road construction at Assin Edubiase in the Central Region.

The project, which involves reshaping and asphalt overlay when completed, will open up the area and ease the challenges that impede socio-economic development.

Rev. Ntim Fordjor who is the Deputy Minister of Education also inspected the 32km asphaltic road from Assin Edubiase to about 20 adjourning communities in the Area.

Some of the communities along the road include; Assin Homaho, Nkwanta, KwamaAnnan, Tomfokrom, Abease, Adadientam, Amoaben, Andoe.

The COCOBOD funded road project, is scheduled to be completed by February 2022 to provide farmers and residents in the area as well as schools and health care facilities.

The MP expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of work done and urged the contractor to continue to proritise quality service delivery to reduce the financial burden on the government.

He said quality roads were critical in connecting cities, facilitating trade, attracting and retaining investments, hence the government’s commitment to invest heavily in that sector.

Mr. Kwame Nsiah the Project Operations Officer of Mmanab Construction Limited, the contractor, was hopeful that work would be completed on the 32Km road on schedule.

He applauded the MP for his commitment and utmost support since the commencement of the project.

In an interview with some residents, Mrs. Faustina Aidoo, a trader, heaved a sigh of relief and said the construction of the road had delivered them of the dust that gave many people respiratory diseases and also appealed to the contractor to complete the project on schedule.

Mr. Kofi Serebour, a taxi driver who plies the road said its nature affected business adding that some of their goods fell off sometimes due to huge potholes and was grateful to the MP for his bold initiative.

He said the frequent visits to the mechanic workshop had been curtailed to save them cost and made it easier for them to get to their destination on time.
