Odumase (B/R), Nov. 17, GNA – The Sunyani West Municipal Directorate of Education has honoured Mr. William Ohene-Adjei, the Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Gratitude Foundation, a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) for his sterling contributions towards educational growth in the Municipality.
The NGO works to promote the growth and development of education through tackling bottlenecks impeding particularly girl-child education in the Municipality.
“This is in recognition and sincere appreciation of your outstanding loyalty and selfless contribution towards educational enhancement in the Sunyani Municipality,” a citation presented by the Directorate in honour of Mr. Ohene-Adjei, also the Bono Regional Manager of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) stated.
Mr. Issah Baffoe, the Sunyani West Municipal Director of Education, read the citation when the Foundation presented 25 bicycles and school bags to some needy but brilliant students and pupils at Odumase in the Municipality.
Highlighting on some records of the Foundation, Mr. Baffoe said the NGO constructed an ICT laboratory for the Odumase Methodist Primary and Junior High School, as well as sponsored career guidance and counselling sessions for BECE candidates in the Municipality.
He expressed appreciation to the Foundation for furnishing the Odumase Methodist and the Seventh Day Adventist Primary and JHSs staff common rooms with laptop computers as well as providing students in the Municipality with social studies textbooks.
“Indeed, your contributions are beyond measure and you have demonstrated that you are a true servant of the people you represent,” Mr. Baffoe read in the citation.
On his part, Mr. Ohene-Adjei said he was surprised and shocked about the honour, saying “I am just giving back to society”.
He said the Foundation had procured and imported educational materials to be supplied to the basic schools in the Municipality, and implored the Directorate to intensify measures to help instil discipline among students and pupils in the area.
Mr. Ohene-Adjei said education remained the surest legacy the government and parents could bequeath to the younger generation, and appealed to wealthy individuals and philanthropic organisations to identify and support brilliant but needy students and pupils in the Municipality.
Osabarima Kwaku Yeboah Ababio, the ‘Kurontirehene’ of Odumase Number One Traditional Area, commended the NGO for its continuous support towards motivating and sustaining the interest of pupils and students in the area in schools.
