Assemblies of God Pastor urges drivers to be vigilant

Dawhenya, Sept. 21, GNA – Pastor Emmanuel Nyamekye of the Assemblies of God Church, Dawhenya, has cautioned vehicle owners, drivers and other road users to be vigilant when using the road.

He said “vehicle owners and pedestrians ought to be very vigilant when using the road for their day-to-day activities, so that there will be no cause of accidents on the road, vigilance would reduce road crashes considerable”.

Both vehicle owners and pedestrians must obey the road traffic regulations, to avoid collusions due to the nature of some of the roads.

Pastor Nyamekye told the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Dawhenya, near Tema that, some motorist disobeys basic traffic regulations, which must be a major concern to all.

He also expressed concern about faulty trucks left in the middle of the road, or on the shoulders for days without proper warning signals, which sometimes cause road crashes.

Pastor Nyamekye urged everyone; drivers, passengers and pedestrians to be very cautious when using the road and every faulty vehicle or truck be removed immediately, to reduce incidents of cars running into faulty vehicles especially in the night.

“Those that cannot be removed immediately there must be enough warning signals to all other road user of the danger ahead,” he said.

The Ghana News Agency Tema Regional Office, in collaboration with the Tema Regional Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service have initiated Road Safety Campaign platform.

The GNA-Tema and MTTD Road Safety Project also seek to actively create consistent and systematic weekly awareness advocacy on the need to be cautious on the road as a user, educate all road users of their respective responsibilities, and sensitise drivers especially of the tenets of road safety regulations.
