Bolgatanga, April 27, GNA – Mr Simon Blessing Agana, a journalist working for Word FM, a Bolgatanga East based radio station, has presented assorted items to vulnerable widows and orphans in the Upper East Region.
The Morning Show Host who made the donation in Bolgatanga presented two bags of used clothes, six bags of five kilograms of rice, six gallons of frytol oil and a box of keysoap bars.
The award winning journalist noted that he had sacrificed his monthly salary to put smiles on the faces of the vulnerable and deprived widows and orphans.
Mr Agana explained that there were vulnerable widows and orphans in the various communities who found it difficult to find something to eat or cloth and it was imperative for all individuals to extend a helping hand to them.
He said the donation was further to demonstrate an example for others to emulate, to assist the vulnerable in the society to feel loved and live dignified lives.
He said it would become a part of him to assist the vulnerable and called on his colleagues and other philanthropists to help those in need, especially those on the streets, to engage in sustainable business that would move them away from the streets.
Ms Fati Abigail Abdulai, the Executive Director, Widows and Orphans Movement (WOM), a Non-Governmental Organization, expressed gratitude to the journalist for the gesture and said it would help the beneficiaries.
Ms Abdulai said food was the top most priority of the widows and orphans and appealed to Ghanaians to have compassion on the vulnerable and assist them to live comfortably.
Nsomah Nyaaba, one of the widows from Dorongo in the Bolgatanga Municipality, thanked Mr Agana as well as WOM for the support.
