Koforidua (E/R), April 14, GNA – With the first round of Division One football league brought to an end, five teams from Eastern Region playing in zone three league are still in high hopes of booking the only qualification spot to the Ghana Premier League (GPL).
Kotoku Royals FC who are leading the Eastern agenda are 3rd on the league table with 28 points, while Okyeman Planners FC 5th with 26 points and Phar Rangers are 6th with 24 points with one outstanding match against Hearts of Lions.
Accra Young Wise FC, who have adopted Nsawam as their home grounds have 21 points and are 8th on the table while Krystal Palace FC have 20 points and are 9th on the league.
Speaking to the GNA Sports in an interview, Mr. Yussif Rockson, Sporting Director and Manager of Okyeman Planners commended his team members for the heroic performance exhibited during the first round of the league, adding that they were still in contention to qualify to the premier league.
He noted that the team in the first round played most of their home matches away from home due to the standard of their pitch which did not meet the club licensing regulation requirement and in turn affected their performance.
He explained that now that their home stadium had been reconstructed to meet the required standard, they would be more comfortable playing at home in the second round.
He called on the fans to rally their support behind the team to deliver on their mandate to qualify the team to the premier league.
Okatakyie Afrifa, Public Relations Officer of Oda Kotoku Royals said the dream of the team to qualify to play in the premier league was still on course.
He noted that the team missed out on some key points in the first round at their home grounds, which really affected them.
He said he was hopeful they would make the necessary corrections ahead of the second round to win most of the home matches to put them in a more comfortable zone.
