GESA opens 2021 nominations

Accra, Feb. 2, GNA — The Ghana Environmental Sanitation Awards (GESA), on Tuesday, opened nomination for the 2021 edition.

The awards scheme on the theme: “Naming, Acknowledging and Rewarding Sanitation Enthusiasts” is aimed at ensuring proper sanitation to achieve a clean Ghana as much as possible.

The 2021 GESA categories include: Cleanest Educational Institution of the Year, Cleanest City/Town or Village of the Year, Cleanest Constituency of the Year, Cleanest Sports or Entertainment Facility of the year.

Others are; Best Sanitation Broadcast or Print Journalist, Best Sanitation TV, Radio or Online Show, Best Sanitation Media Organization, Best Sanitation Act, Best Sanitation Song, Best District or Municipal Assembly in Sanitation, Best Metropolitan Assembly in Sanitation.

A statement released by the Communications Department of GESA and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday encouraged citizens to care for the environment to help achieve a clean Ghana.

“Let’s care for our environment because it is all we have. Proper sanitation is the agenda and a clean Ghana is possible,” the statement stated.

It said a filthy-free Ghana engineered through commercial recycling could become the norm towards the materialization of the goal of achieving an environment devoid of filth.

The statement said GESA was introduced to lead the way to achieving these environmental goals, adding that some awards had been given to some notable individuals and institutions who helped in the sanitation sensitization drive last year.

GESA encouraged all citizens to continue to adopt a positive behavioral change towards the environment and push for a recycling revolution for a complete transformation of Ghana.
