Zoomlion Ghana disinfects schools in Upper East Region

Bolgatanga, Sept. 28, GNA – Zoomlion Ghana Limited has commenced the second phase of disinfection of basic and second cycle institutions across the districts in the Upper East Region.

The exercise is being carried out in collaboration with the government and Ghana Education Service (GES).

Mr Kojo Njabore, the Public Jobs Manager, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, said the exercise was part of measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in basic and Senior High schools when they reopen next month.

He said the exercise would cover a total of 52 Senior High Technical and Vocational schools and about 4,300 basic schools in the private and public sectors.

Mr Njabore said the exercise was expected to last seven days and was moving on steadily with a few minor challenges.

Some of the schools which were disinfected at the weekend included Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School (SHS), Navrongo SHS, Awe SHS, Gambibgo Community Day SHS, St. Benedict SHS and St. John’s Integrated SHS.

The disinfection was done in classrooms, washrooms, dormitories and dining halls, among other facilities.

Mr Stanislaus Napaala, a Senior House Master of the Bolgatanga Girls’ SHS, commended government and Zoomlion for the exercise.

He said it would help eradicate bedbugs and other pests in the school.

Mr Napaala said aside from the disinfection exercise, measures were in place to ensure students adhere to the Convid-19 protocols when they returned to school.

Mr Napaala said the school was ready to receive the students back to campus and appealed to the government for a bus to support transportation.
