Okere DCE rallies support for the voter registration exercise

Asaman-Ketewa, June 24, GNA – Mr. Daniel Kenneth, the Okere District Chief Executive (DCE), says measures put in place to provide protection for the people against the novel coronavirus during the voter registration exercise scheduled to begin on June 30, are adequate.

The Electoral Commission (EC), he said, had taken safety and preventive precautions protect everybody, who showed up at the registration centres to register from the flu-like virus.

The DCE was addressing Constituency and Polling Station Executives, delegates and supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the area, at a ceremony to endorse Mr. Dan Botwe, incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) and Minister for Regional Reorganization and Development, as their parliamentary candidate for the coming December general election.

He called for all qualified voters to participate in the exercise – to get their names on the new voters roll.
The DCE said every registration centre would be provided with hand washing stations, hand sanitizers with everyone required to wear face covering, and there would be strict adherence to social distancing.
He urged the Polling Station Executive to intensify public education on the voter registration to help the electorate to understand why they had to be part of the exercise.

It was important for all to recognize that they could vote to renew the mandate of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the governing party on December 7, only when they registered as voters.

The NPP government, he said, had done so much within the three and half years in power, and predicted massive victory.

The 486 delegates endorsed Mr. Botwe’s candidature by popular acclamation.
