Newmont Ghana supports construction of isolation unit

New Abirem (E/R), May 24, GNA- The Newmont, Ghana- Akyem Mines has supported the New Abirem Government Hospital with building materials worth GH¢ 28,500.00 to complete the construction of an isolation unit that was started by the hospital.

The materials included; roofing sheets, tiles, wooden boards, bags of cement, paint and sanitary ware.

At a ceremony held to present the items to the facility, Mr Joshua Mortoti, the General Manager of Newmont, Ghana- Akyem Mines said, the project was to serve the district, should anybody tests positive for the COVID-19 pandemic in the district.

He said the company decided to support the facility to complete the project because the district lacked an isolation centre.

Mr Mortoti assured that his company would continue to support the local assemblies and medical institutions in their operational areas with Personal Protective Equipment.

Mr Mortoti therefore called on all and sundry to adhere to the government’s directives put in place to minimize the spread of coronavirus in the country.
