Accra, April 02, GNA – Mrs Naana Akyaa Asante, the Chief Executive Officer of Isabella Health Care Services, dealers in medical items, on Thursday donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the Ministry of Health, to support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana.
The items, made up of disposable gowns and bedsheets, protective headgears and face masks, were valued at about GH¢ 20,000.00.
Mrs Asante, who is also a registered nurse, and a Board Member of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where the company had earlier donated similar items, commended the Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service (GHS) for the various efforts put in place curb COVID-19.
She gave her personal encounter with the contact tracing team when she was called because two of her children had returned from abroad within the two-week period under review.
She narrated how she was assisted by health officials during the mandatory quarantine of her children, followed by contact tracing of other members of her family, and the cooperation received from either sides until they were cleared as negative and discharged.
Mrs Asante encouraged all other Ghanaians, particularly those who had been called due to their contacts with persons confirmed to have tested positive to COVID-19, to cooperate with the contact tracing team and provide the required information in order to curb the further spread of the virus.
Mr Alexander K. K. Abban, the Deputy Minister of Health, who received the donation, thanked the Organisation for the gesture and called on others to emulate it.
He stressed that the contact tracing team was actively on the ground, working to mop-up all cases of contacts to ensure the virus does not spread to other parts of the country, and called for maximum cooperation from the public.
