Navrongo (UE), April 23, GNA – Charger Limited, producers and mother company for Happy Man Bitters, Charger Transport and Charger Money Lending Services, has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other items to the Kassena-Nankana Municipal to support the fight against COVID-19.
The items worth GH¢42,750.00 were given to the War Memorial Hospital and Kassena-Nankana Directorate of the Ghana Health Services.
The items included four pieces of Inferred Thermometers, five digital Blood Pressure monitors, 1000 pieces of surgical face masks, 5000 pieces of disposable examination gloves and 5000 pieces of disposable surgical gloves.
The rest were 50 pieces of disposable surgical gowns, 120 rolls of disposable tissue, 20 veronica buckets, 30 cartons of liquid soap, 1000 pieces of charger alcohol-based hand sanitizers as well as 50 cartons of bottled water.
Mr Roland Bugadam, the Media and Communications Manager, Charger Limited, who presented the items on behalf of Dr Emmanuel Bortey Borketey, the Chief Executive Officer of Charger Limited in Navrongo, said 60 per cent of the items would be given to the War Memorial Hospital and 40 per cent to the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Health Directorate.
“Earlier last week, we received a letter from the War Memorial Hospital seeking for some form of support with regards to PPE to help fight the virus, by then, Charger Limited was already preparing its own list to donate to the hospital and I must say the letter was timely as it coincided with our intentions for the hospital,” he said.
Mr Bugadam expressed optimism that the donation would augment the efforts of the hospital and the Municipal Health Directorate to combat the spread of the virus and save lives.
Pe Denis Aniakwa Beliana Adda Asagpare II, the Paramount Chief of the Navrongo Traditional Area, expressed gratitude to Charger Limited and encouraged the health care workers to give off their best to quickly detect suspected cases of the virus and stop its spread
Mr Benson Nsoh Azuure, the Municipal Director, Ghana Health Services, who received the items on behalf of the two entities, thanked the Charger Limited for the support.
The Municipal Health Director said although the directorate and the hospital had received support from other individuals and organizations as well as the government, the support given by Charger Limited would further boost the efforts of the staff to work hard to identify and stop the spread of the virus.
The Municipality has so far been able to identify 17 suspected cases and two have tested negative for the virus while the results of the remaining 15 are pending, he said.
While calling for more support from other organizations and philanthropists, Mr Azuure, advised members of the public to strictly adhere to the World Health Organization protocols including regular washing of hands with soap under running water, using alcohol-based hand sanitizers, wearing of nose masks and practicing social distancing among others to prevent themselves from being infected.
