Ho, Jan. 15, GNA – Chief Executive positions in the 18 District Assemblies in the Volta Region has attracted hundreds of aspirants.
A total of 279 has filed applications by the close of nominations, marking heightened interest in local governance in the Region.
The North Tongu District has 40 filing for the position, the highest, and is being trailed by the Central Tongu District with 27 applicants.
Ho Central, the only Metropolis in the Region, has 22 applying for the coveted job as Mayor of the Regional Capital.
Other districts with the high number of applicants include Anlo with 19, North Dayi, 18, and also Ketu South and Afadzato South which has 17 each.
Keta has 15, Hohoe has 14, while South Dayi, Ketu North, and South Tongu, each has 13 applicants each.
Kpando registered ten applicants.
On the lowest frequencies are Akatsi North with four, Akatsi South, six, and the Adaklu District with eight applications.
The regional vetting committee has been tasked to consider customary, geographical, and ethnic composition in ensuring a balanced distribution of power.
