Kumasi Jan. 14, GNA – Mr. Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, Director of Legal Affairs of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has re-affirmed President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to work with 60 ministers as promised during the electioneering campaign.

He said the President’s determination to constitute the leanest government under the Fourth Republic remained unchanged.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Kumasi, Mr. Tamakloe said cutting down government expenditure was one of the strategies the President sought to adopt for efficient management of resources.

He said Ghanaians must be rest assured that the overwhelming mandate given the President and NDC would be used judiciously to build a strong and resilient nation for the benefit of the citizenry.

Cutting down waste in public expenditure, he said, was going to be one of the cardinal principles of the Mahama Administration.

Mr. Edudzi, who was responding to the reduction of Ministries from 30 to 23 by the new government, said the party would not renege on promises in its 2024 manifesto because it was a social contract between the party and Ghanaians.

He assured the people of Ghana that President Mahama and the NDC would not take the confidence reposed in them for granted, stressing that, they would work in the best interest of the people who brought them to power.

The President has so far nominated three people who have already been vetted by parliament.

They are Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, Ministry of Finance, John Abu Jinapor, Ministry of Energy and Dr. Dominic Ayine Attorney General and Minister for Justice.

Having promised to put together his cabinet within 14 days after being sworn in, President Mahama is expected to release nominees for the remaining ministries in the coming days.

According to Mr. Edudzi, the President would soon come out with the nominees for the various ministries within the stipulated period as promised.
