Kadjebi (O/R), Jan 10, GNA – The District Directorate of the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit, Kadjebi.District of the Oti Region, has trained and certified 78 food vendors on appropriate food and hygiene behaviour in Kadjebi.
The training, sponsored by the World Vision Ghana (WVG), Kadjebi Area Programme, Agortime Cluster, was for vendors in 15 selected schools within the WVG Programme operational areas.
Mr. Victus Elorm Kpotosu, District Environmental Health Officer, Kadjebi, disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency when he shared the Unit’s Success Story for 2024, with the Agency.
He said during the year under review, WVG also supported them to sensitise households on appropriate water handling behaviour and general environmental cleanliness, faeco-oral transmission routes, HIV and AIDS and gender mainstreaming in 11 operational communities.
Mr. Kpotosu said UNICEF under their Sanitation and Housing Integration Programme (SHIP4S) aimed at scaling-up toilet construction to help achieve Sustainable Development Goal six (SDG 6) sponsored them to educate residents of the district on the need to acquire individual toilets.
He said during the period, and with support from WVG and UNICEF, 16 communities became potential for Open Defecation Free (ODF) status.
Mr Kpotosu therefore, advised the residents to practice good hygiene and keep their surroundings clean.
He also urged the inhabitants to always wash their hands with soap under running water to clear disease-causing germs.
