President Mahama will champion the judiciary’s independence- Dr Ayine

Accra, Jan. 7, GNA – Dr. Dominic Ayine, a former Deputy Attorney-General, has expressed confidence that President John Dramani Mahama will prioritize judiciary independence and prevent partisan interference to ensure effective constitutional operations for justice in Ghana.

In an interview during the swearing-in ceremony of President Mahama and Vice-President Professor Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Dr. Ayine emphasized the importance of a well-resourced judiciary to ensure effective performance of its constitutional duties.

He noted that President Mahama was committed to appointing a dedicated Minister to oversee the affairs of Ghana’s justice sector.

“The independence of the judiciary is crucial in the administration of justice,” Dr. Ayine stated.

He also reiterated that the President’s leadership would continue to strengthen this independence, ensuring the judiciary functions without external influence.

President Mahama, who has returned to office after serving from 2013 to 2017, will now serve as the sixth President of Ghana’s Fourth Republic.
