Effia (WR), Dec 25, GNA – The Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) in Takoradi has held its second annual love feast, with a focus on promoting good health among its members and the community.
The event, which took place at the church premises, brought together hundreds of members and guests, who were treated to a sumptuous meal and inspiring messages.
Elder George Maddy, the Presiding Elder of the centre, who gave the purpose of the event, said it was to share in the fellowship of the love of God shown to humankind.
It was also to honour some deserving members for their service and extend the love of God to those yet to come to the saving knowledge of Christ.
Dr Benedict Somiah, a medical practitioner, began the session with a talk on how to improve one’s health.
He bemoaned the situation where some Christians related early symptoms and signs of diseases and sickness to spiritual attacks and ignored the early intervention of medical care.
He, thus, encouraged participants to seek early medical attention to prevent diseases from escalating to the point where it would be too late for a cure.
According to him, good health and wellness hang on three (3) pillars such as consumption, mental health, and lifestyle.
He urged participants to set their consumption goals right by avoiding alcohol, smoking, and overeating.
They should also strive to take a balanced diet even if it was in a small quantity, eat adequately when hungry and take in more water.
Touching on the mental goals, he admonished Christians to manage their stress in the best way known to them and prioritize their relationships by setting healthy boundaries, walking away from bad ones, and engaging in healthy social interactions.
Dr Somiah, touching on lifestyle behaviours, said that lifestyle changes needed to be gradual and consistent, while avoiding drastic overhauling.
He urged Christians to have occasional health screenings, limit screen time, adopt regular exercise, have a mindful posture, get enough sleep, and manage their environment.
Pastor Borngreat Selasi Amedeka, Resident Minister of PIWC Takoradi, in a short exhortation, said everyone born on earth has a unique purpose to accomplish in life.
He noted that the devil fights the purposes of God in people’s lives, but when those lives are hidden in Christ, they become secure.
He, therefore, implored those who were yet to accept Jesus into their lives to use the occasion to accept Jesus Christ who is the gift of God revealed into their life.
The 2nd annual love feast of PIWC Takoradi featured some personalities from the streets of Takoradi, expats from Niger and some persons with disabilities (PWDs).
