Ho Teaching Hospital makes significant strides in improving services across board — CEO

By Samuel Akumatey

Ho, Dec. 25, GNA – Dr John Tampouri, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ho Teaching Hospital, has reported notable service improvement at the apex health facility.

He said the teaching hospital had enhanced its appeal as the final referral point in the region and beyond while delivering on the mandate of training students from Ghana’s premier health university and other institutions.

The CEO was addressing stakeholders at the annual festival of nine Lessons and Carols.

He credited staff for the growing impact.

“The past year has not been without its challenges, but together, we have risen above them. Our collective resilience and teamwork have turned obstacles into opportunities, and for that, I commend you.

“Reflecting on the year, we can look back on numerous achievements that have brought us closer to our vision of providing exceptional patient care and training the next generation of healthcare leaders as one of the highlights. We have made significant strides in expanding our services, and enhancing the overall patient experience.” The services nclude Oncology, Endoscopy, Neurology, Electro Cardiogram, Asthma clinic, Echocardiogram, Dietetics, Pain Management, CT Scan services, among others.

“Our staff have worked tirelessly to ensure that every patient receives the highest quality care, with compassion, empathy, and kindness. Again, our hospital has seen an increase in patient satisfaction, as reflected in our feedback systems. This is a testament to your hard work, dedication, and the human touch you bring to healthcare every day. I have witnessed on many occasions how you sacrifice your time, energy, and sometimes even your personal comfort to ensure that our clients feel not just treated, but cared for. This is what distinguishes us as a teaching hospital that delivers compassionate and people-centred care,” he said.

Dr. Tampouri announced “significant strides” in innovation and infrastructure, and mentioned new projects completed and commissioned recently, and which included a new CT Scan lab, a family health centre and a new pharmacy centre.

An annex facility of the teaching hospital, located in the vicinity of the Ho Airport, has also been commissioned.

The CEO said workflow efficiency had improved with the implementation of new systems, and urged staff and stakeholders to continue to support the vision of a world class health provider.

“This year also brought significant strides in innovation and infrastructure. Thanks to the collective effort of the Governing Board, Management and partners, we have commissioned five new facilities, which are the Family Health Centre, CT scan, additional consulting rooms for the Psychological Medicine, Pharmacy Complex, and the Ho Teaching Hospital Annex located on the road to Kpetoe.

“On the operational front, we have implemented systems that improve workflow efficiency, ensuring that patients receive timely services and our staff can work more comfortably,” he said.

Dr. Tampouri assured staff of progress with improved welfare policy, saying welfare remained a priority for management.

“Our staff welfare initiatives, though still evolving, are a key focus area. Your well-being matters to us because without a healthy, motivated workforce, we cannot achieve our mandate. As you may be aware, an improved health policy for staff is at the final stages of formulation which will be implemented early next year”.

He commended stakeholders for holding up the facility in the face of resource constraints, and assured them of management’s resolve towards the realisation of needed State and non-State collaboration and support for the teaching hospital.

The CEO further announced plans to improve infrastructure and expand certain departments, among them the accident and emergencies, and the dialysis unit.

“As we step into the new year, let us remain united, motivated, and committed to excellence. Let us continue to work as one family, supporting one another and lifting each other up. Together, we will continue to make Ho Teaching Hospital a place where quality healthcare meets compassion, learning meets innovation, and patients leave with restored hope,” Dr. Tampouri stated.

There were musical performances and Scripture readings to mark the birth of Christ.
