Accra, Dec. 25, GNA – Spartan Ives Limited, owners and operators of the Polo Beach Club continue to operate the club after a court interim injunction was been served on them Friday, December 20.
The injunction says: “PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that pursuant to the Order of interim injunction of the High Court, Land Division 7, Accra dated 19th December, 2024 (attached to this Notice) which has been served on you, the Defendant, its agents, affiliates, holding company, subsidiaries, assigns, servants, workmen and associates are restrained/injuncted from.”
“Trespassing on the Plaintiff’s Land covering an approximate area of 0.54 acres and using same as a car park, pathway for the Defendant’s events, activities and parties or any other purpose,” it also said
Meanwhile, the Polo Beach Club, a luxury beach club located at the frontage of the Labadi Beach Hotel, a few meters away from the sea, allegedly carried out their recreational activities on Friday night, December 20 and Saturday night, December 21.
A visit to the facility by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Sunday night, December 22, revealed that an epic entertaining event called “Likor on the Beach” was hosted by the Club and Afrobeat Singer and Songwriter, Dennis Nana Dwamena, popularly known as KiDi was the main artist.
The Sunday event which started around 0900 hours with revelers drinking and dancing to loud music sound, soothing music atmosphere amidst fireworks ended in the early morning of Monday, December 23.
It also brought some other artists like Kwabena Kwabena, Fameyeh, Black Sherif and Sister Debbie who took the opportunity to engage the spirited revelers.
Guests of the Labadi Beach Hotel said the loud sounds had been bringing discomfort to them and causing them to leave angrily as Mr and Mrs Gerome Thomas, guests at the Hotel, shared their ordeal of how they had not been able to catch sleep at night anytime the Club was operating.
“The noise is extremely outrageous especially at 0300 hours. The music and fireworks are very disturbing and they make it difficult for us to have a sleep. It will be wonderful if something can be done about it,” the couple said.
On the December 24, an event called Amapiano and Brunch had taken place from 2100 hours to 0500 hours in the morning of Wednesday, December 25.
As part of activities for the festive season, the Polo Beach Club has scheduled several events which would take place during this yuletide up to January 2, a period where the enforcement of the injunction (10 days) would largely be in force.
Today, Wednesday, December 25, Tiki Afro Jam and Polo Beach Club had been scheduled from 2100 hours to 0600 hours. Also on December 26, Rhythm and Brunch would take 1500 hours to 2200 hours.
Other scheduled activities would be PBC New Year’s Eve on December 31 night from 2200 hours to 0700 hours. On January 2, there would be Smallgod Fuego on the Beach from 2100 hours in the night to 0600
hours.
The management of Polo Beach declined to comment.
