Sakumono, Dec. 24, GNA – The Greater Accra Regional Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mrs. Felicia Mekpoi Bortey, has organised a thanksgiving service to appreciate God for helping the Party to win the just-ended elections.

The service held at De Place at Sakumono, saw party members coming together to praise God for the victory given to the NDC.

Mrs. Bortey acknowledged the hard-working committees across the region, especially the women organisers and their deputies from Ada to Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfo.

She also commended Mr. Kobina Ade Coker, the former Greater Accra Regional Chairman; members of the council of elders; the Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Mr. Ernest Henry Norgbey; Dr. Valerie Sawyerr; and others for their support and generosity.

“The victory we were all aiming for has come to pass; it was unfortunate we could not get the three constituencies to enable us to sweep all the seats in Accra,” she said.

Mrs. Bortey prayed for God’s guidance for the newly elected president, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, to appoint ministers who would prioritise the needs of Ghanaians, knowing where the NDC started from and how far it had gotten to, instead of showing pride and arrogance.

“They want humble people to be in power and position, and I know God will guide him to the destination, and the four years will turn around to reset and give the Ghana we want,” she said.

Mr. Ade Coker, on his part, congratulated the party faithful for  a good job done, especially the regional women organiser, who put the women together at the marketplaces, the streets, and everywhere with a vigorous campaign.

“God being so kind, he has  answered our prayers; we have been in opposition for eight years, but the vigilance we put up this year, especially the women, has brought us to where we are,” he said.

The former chairman encouraged the women to stay together in unity to enable them to partake in their share of the national cake.
