Suke (UW/R), Dec. 21, GNA – The paramount chief of Lambussie Traditional Area, Kuoro Issaka Zengeh Kazie Tenjie II, has observed that inclusive stakeholder engagement was an effective tool to reviving the fallen education standards in Lambussie.
He said it was important for all stakeholders to collaborate effectively to revive the fallen education standards in the district.
Kuoro Issaka was speaking during a stakeholder engagement in Suke on the theme: “Reviving the Fallen Educational Standards in Lambussie District: The Role of Stakeholders”.
The paramount chief said education was the bedrock of a nation, stressing that, “A nation that neglects the education of its citizens has no future as the quality of her human resources is compromised”.
He said active and collective support was required to enhance quality of education and to provide the needed skills and knowledge for the future.
Kuoro Issaka noted that the district had painfully observed the decline in educational standards in all institutions and called for immediate efforts to address the pressing educational infrastructure challenges.
He mentioned the large population of children, issues of classroom, inadequate learning materials and teachers as some of the challenges facing learning outcome in the district.
He called on government, donor agencies, individuals, philanthropists and non-governmental organizations to come to the aid of the district to provide the needed support.
Kuoro chabuka Chombui I, the Divisional Chief of Nimoro, said restoring educational standards should not be the business of government alone but all stakeholders in education.
He appealed to stakeholders in education and parents to prioritize education and help to identify the talent of pupils.
He said teachers were essential elements in the chain of stakeholders as a result of their availability and acquaintance with the curriculum, which was a key requirement to contribute to quality education.
Mr Amoah Basing, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), who chaired the function expressed gratitude to the organizers of the programme for their tireless efforts in bringing together stakeholders to deliberate on issues affecting education in Lambussie.
He said the dedication and commitment was commendable and urged them to work together to boost education in the area.
Mr Roger Gamuo, a representative from the Community Development Alliance (CDA), said teachers were the core of quality education and called for more investment in their professional development.
He called on Ghana Education Service (GES) to provide competitive renumeration and create a conducive environment to enhance teaching and learning.
He said CDA was committed to community development with education as key priority to bridge gaps in education in rural areas.
