Accra, Dec. 21, GNA – The Electoral Commission (EC) resumed the re-collation of results for the outstanding constituencies that had been suspended on December 7, 2024, on Saturday morning.
The constituencies involved include Nsawam Adoagyiri, Ahafo Ano South West, Ahafo Ano North, Obuasi East, Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, Tema Central, Techiman South, and Dome Kwabenya.
The EC had previously rejected the results in these areas, stating that the results were declared under duress and did not follow proper procedures.
The re-collation process had started at the Tesano Police Depot in Accra but was halted due to security concerns, as supporters of political parties disrupted the collation center, endangering the safety of EC officers.
On Friday, the National Elections Security Taskforce approved the resumption of the collation under heavy security.
There was a strong police presence at the EC’s Greater Accra Regional Office on Saturday morning to prevent any disturbances by political party supporters.
Benjamin Bano-Bioh, the EC’s Director of Electoral Services, informed the press that the re-collation of the outstanding constituencies would be completed on Saturday.
At the start of the process, no agents from the NDC were present.
Mr. Bano-Bioh clarified that all political parties had been informed to send their representatives, and the re-collation would proceed regardless.
