Accra, Dec. 18, GNA – Black Stars defender Alidu Seidu has undergone a successful surgery after rupturing his cruciate ligament on November, 2025.

The Stade Rennes defender suffered a season-ending injury during his side’s Ligue 1 match against Lille.

Seidu was stretched off the field in the 17th minute after landing awkwardly, resulting in a cruciate ligament injury in his left knee.

A statement on Stade Rennes’ website said: “Alidu Seidu underwent surgery on Monday in Paris after rupturing the cruciate ligament in his left knee against LOSC on Matchday 12 of Ligue 1.

“The operation went well for the Ghanaian international. Now it’s off to the hard work of re-education and, later, re-athletisation. Strength to you, Alidu!”

Seidu’s injury is a big blow to Ghana’s Black Stars, as he will be unavailable for the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Madagascar and Chad in March, 2025.

The defender has been a crucial player for Ghana coach Otto Addo, who has in the past praised the player for dedication to the national team.
