Fiapre, (Bono), Dec. 19, GNA – The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) Cooperative Credit Union has achieved marginal growth, increasing assets from GHC5,324,324,364.01 in 2022 to GHC5,338,178.39 in 2023.
Dr Alfred Ohene Nana Appiah, the Chairperson of the Union said the achievement represented a growth rate of 0.258 per cent, saying it also recorded a net profit of GHC763,384.94 within the period.
Addressing the fourth Annual General Meeting (AGM) which coincided with the launch of the 10th anniversary celebration of the Union at Fiapre, in the Sunyani West Municipality, Dr Appiah said “that is the demonstration of resilience and stability of the union’s operations”.
The Union also saw a marginal increase in its membership pegging at 1,337, he stated, saying it had also developed policies, including share, dividend, saving, loan, and human resources policies to guide operations.
Additionally, Dr Appiah said Union had established a committee to strengthen its values and accountability and to promote sustainable growth and enhance service delivery.
It has also undertaken several corporate social responsibilities, including supporting the Union’s university, he stated, stressing the Union’s commitment to become a market leader among workplace-based service and financial service providers in the country.
That would well position the Union to offer competitive and tailored-made financial products and services to members, indicating that it had also outlined strategies to enhance service delivery through technological advancements.
These include online banking, mobile applications, and cyber-security measures.
Touching on the 10th anniversary, Dr Appiah said the celebration would be held in 2025 on the theme “celebrating the past and sustaining our legacy to inspire the future”.
Mr Papa Kwame Asante, the Manager of the Union urged members to strive to enhance the union’s values for sustainable growth and operational efficiency, which could lead to growth in membership, fund mobilization, and improvement in service and customer relations.
