Kumasi Dec. 19, GNA – Alhaji Abdul Mumin Haroun, the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, has died at the age of 74.
He died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital (KATH) in Kumasi Tuesday night, December 17, 2024, after a short illness.
Imam Haroun before his death, was one of the longest serving Imams of the Ashanti region.
He was known for his unifying role in many conflicts in the Ashanti Region.
The late chief was also admired for transforming the Kumasi central mosque among Muslim communities in the region and credited for his involvement in many transformational activities in the Ashanti region.
Prior to his ascension to the throne in 2011, he deputized Sheikh Imran Musah, the late Ashanti Regional chief Imam.
Arrangements are being made for his burial at the Tafo Cemetery after “Janaza” prayers at the Kumasi Central Mosque at 1400 hours.
He Left behind two wives and six children.
