Accra, Dec 16, GNA – Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman, Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Monday, has led a delegation of the Council to pay a courtesy call on President-elect John Dramani Mahama, to congratulate him on his victory at the December 7 polls.

Apostle Nyamekye, who is also the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, assured the President-elect that the GPCC was ready to support his presidency and help him move the nation forward

“Opportunity is sometimes described as time. Others have opportunity but not time, but you have both. Take this opportunity and take this time,” he stated.

“As you have this opportunity always do good as the Bible admonishes. You have experience but experience alone is not enough. You need God to guide you.”

President-elect Mahama said the National Day of Thanksgiving and prayer was still key, and said his administration expects the Clergy to take charge.

“We don’t expect it to be solely a government business. I am grateful for the opportunity to sit back and come back to do better,” he said.

“I pray for grace and wisdom so that this second opportunity will be worthwhile.

President-elect Mahama noted that the world was looking up to Ghana but in the last few years, the belief in governmental institutions had waned and that his administration had lots to do to restore it.

He said he would establish the Government Advisory Council to carry out an annual report on the state of affairs, which would give the Government a sense of direction.

“My office is open, and you can always provide not only spiritual but physical guidance,” he said.
