Accra, Dec.12, GNA – The King of the Igbo community in Ghana, Eze Dr. AMB Chukwudi J. Ihenetu, has called on citizens to support President-elect, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, as he prepares for his upcoming term in office.
In a congratulatory message, Eze Ihenetu commended Ghanaians for the successful conduct of the 2024 elections and their role in preserving the country’s democratic values.
Dr. Ihenetu commended Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for conceding defeat on Sunday December 8, ahead of the declaration of results, to ease tension.
He emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and good governance, which had been a hallmark of Ghana since 1992.
Dr Ihenetu highlighted the divine nature of leadership, hoping that Mr. Mahama would be guided by good advisors to fulfill his vision for the country.
“We pray that the Lord will give him men and women that will rule with him to make Ghana one of the best countries in the world.
“We also pray that the people of Ghana will cooperate with His Excellency, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, to make sure his governance will be the best for all of us,” he stated.
Dr. Ihenetu called on other African countries to emulate Ghana’s example of good governance and peaceful elections.
He encouraged other nationals in the country to respect the law and contribute positively to Ghana’s economy.
“Before the election, we’ve been talking to Nigerians not to participate in the election because they are not eligible to vote…I want to thank you, my fellow Nigerians, that you did not disgrace us by voting when you’re not supposed to,” he said.
Dr. Ihenetu expressed gratitude for the hospitality shown to foreigners, which he believed would continue under the Mahama administration.
“Ghana has been known to be one of the countries that always conform to peaceful election, and today, we have seen that…
“As foreigners that live in Ghana, we want to say thank you to the entire Ghana for the good governance they have shown to the world,” he stated.
