Kadjebi Accident: Two apprentices crush to death

Kadjebi (O/R), Dec 12, GNA – Miss Rahiya Mumuni, 21-year-old Seamstress apprentice and Mr. Sulemana Ibrahim, 20-year-old Fitter Mechanic apprentice at Kadjebi were crushed to death by Toyota Hilux Pickup, while on motorbike to Menuso, their hometown.

The car, which was allegedly being driven by the Menuso Sector Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service was from Menuso to Kadjebi was set ablaze by angry youth of Okanta, a farming community, where the accident happened.

The deceased were returning from work at Kadjebi to Menuso, before meeting their untimely death at Okanta, a farming community between Kadjebi and Menuso.

The accident which occurred at about 1900hours on Wednesday, December 11, had thrown the entire Menuso and Okanta communities into a state of sorrow and mourning,when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the accident scene and the communities on Thursday, December 12. 2024.

Mr. Alidu Mumuni, father of Rahiya, told the GNA that he was informed that his daughter was involved in an accident, while coming home and rushed to the scene to ascertain the accident.

He said at the scene, he noticed some life, so he asked that his daughter be rushed to the hospital for medical attention, but she passed on the way.

When the GNA contacted the Kadjebi District Police Commander, Supt. Frank Nana Asomaning on the accident, he confirmed it and described it as brutal one.

He said though they were at the accident scene on time and pleaded with the youth not to burn the vehicle, but they refused and set the car ablaze.

The car was burnt beyond recognition when the GNA visited the scene at around 0645hours.

The corpses have been released to the deceased families for burial in line with Islamic customs and religion.

As at 0655hours and 0715hours when the GNA visited the homes of Rahiya and Ibrahim, there were preparations for their burial.

GNA
