Ho, Dec. 10, GNA – The Ho Divisional Police Command has assured of security in the municipality in the wake of reports of alleged attack on the residence of Mr Divine Bosson, the Ho Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
Media reports suggest that the residence of the MCE was attacked on Sunday December 9, by persons believed to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to the reports, the NADMO office in the Municipality too had been broken into and streetlights stored there looted.
However, Superintendent Jeremiah Alale, the Ho Municipal Commander of the Ghana Police Service told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the situation was under control.
He confirmed the incident at the residency of the MCE, but said supporters of the NDC had mounted surveillance at the premises to keep watch over its contents as political power transitioned.
He said Police personnel had been detailed at the residence day and night, and that leadership of both Parties had been engaged on maintaining peace during the period.
The Commander also confirmed that some streetlights had been intercepted, but upon interrogation, were certified to be headed to Kpetoe for installation, and had duly been released.
Police officers have been stationed at the Ho Municipal Assembly premises against possible attacks as reports from across the country indicate break-ins and looting of public offices following Saturday’s elections.
Meanwhile, Mr Bosson has disclosed to the GNA that his wife and children were taken hostage at the MCE’s official residence at Ring Road, when known thugs of the NDC blocked the entrance of the facility, which impeded their movement.
