Accra, Dec 10, GNA – The Electoral Commission has announced the results from 32 constituencies in the Greater Accra Region, with the results from Dome-Kwabenya and Ablekuma North still outstanding.
According to the announced results, John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) received 1,260,832 votes, while Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) garnered 681,535 votes.
Other candidates’ votes included: Daniel Augustus Lartey Jnr (GCPP) with 758 votes, Christian Kwabena Andrews (GUM) with 1,773 votes, Kofi Akpaloo (LPG) with 401 votes, Mohammed Frimpong (NDP) with 223 votes, and Nana Akosua Frimpomaa (CPP) with 2,975 votes.
The rest of the candidates included Hassan Abdulai Ayariga (APC) with 2,102 votes, Kofi Koranteng (Independent) with 290 votes, George Twum-Barimah-Adu (Independent) with 271 votes, Nana Kwame Bediako with 19,630 votes, and Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen (Independent) with 6,289 votes.
The total valid votes cast were 1,977,079, while 22,707 ballots were rejected.
Mrs. Gladys Pinkrah, the Greater Accra Regional Director of the EC, explained that although the Commission had received results from the two outstanding constituencies, it had not received the full set of polling station results.
Therefore, those constituencies could not be included in the final regional tally.
She emphasized that the decision to announce the results of the 32 constituencies was made because even if the results from the two remaining constituencies were added to the second-place candidate’s votes, it would not affect the outcome of the presidential results in the region.
