Ho, Dec 10, GNA – The Kadjebi District Office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the Oti Region, has been barricaded by some thugs believed to be National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters.
The group was allegedly led by Mr. Ahmed Muniru (AKA Orinzo).
Mr. Joseph Nana Oboako, Kadjebi District Director, NADMO, when contacted by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) confirmed the development.
He said the case has been reported to his Regional Director, and the Police.
When GNA contacted Superintendent of Police, Supt. Frank Nana Asomaning, the Kadjebi District Police Commander on the issue, he confirmed that the case had been reported to his outfit and investigations had begun.
Meanwhile, staff of the Kadjebi District Assembly, who were attacked by an angry mob on Monday, December 9, are back to the Office working diligently.
When the GNA visited the Assembly premises at 0900hours, the District Coordinating Director (DCD) office, Budget Office, Finance Office, Environmental Health Office, among others were opened with Officers busily working.
Mr. Cletus Chevure, the District Coordinating Director (DCD) speaking to the GNA in his Office, alleged that the mob, who were led by Mr Muniru, NDC Stalwart and one “Kill Them” from the Republic of Togo, who had personal issues with the Mr. Wilson Kwami Agbanyo, Kadjebi District Chief Executive (DCE) came to the Assembly with the intention to pay the DCE back.
He said the thugs also claimed that they heard that the DCE and Officers of the Assembly were looting Assembly properties, so he (DCD) should follow them to the Assembly stores to take inventory of the properties belonging to the Assembly.
Mr. Chevure, said he obliged and led them to the stores for the inventories and pictures after which they handed over the keys to him.
The DCD said during the melee, Mr. Young Andrew, the District Statistician was brutalized by the mob and that he took him to the hospital for medical attention.
Mr. Young when reached by the GNA confirmed it and said he was assaulted for taking pictures, when the thugs were removing pictures of Mr. Mustapha Tassah, the Akan New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate from the DRIP machines parked at the Assembly premises.
He said he was at the hospital the previous day and that he was recovering from the wounds he sustained from the beating.
President-elect, Mr John Dramani Mahama, in his acceptance speech on Monday, prevailed on people vandalizing and seizing state properties, and causing mayhem to desist from such acts.
