Tanoso (Ash), Dec. 09, GNA – Professor Kingsley Nyarko, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwadaso, has retained the seat for the New Patriotic Party after beating two other contestants.
Prof. Nyarko, who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training, polled 45,858 votes out of the 58,007 valid votes cast.
He beat Mr Eric Assibey, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, who received 11,221 votes, and Mr David Kwesi Adongo of PNC, who had 497.
A total of 431 votes were rejected in the parliamentary elections in the constituency.
In the presidential election, Vice-President Dr Bawumia, Flagbearer of the NPP, secured 45,878 votes out the 58,772 valid votes cast, whiles former President Mr John Dramani Mahama, Flagbearer of the NDC, recorded 11,009.
A total of 387 ballots were rejected in the presidential elections.
Prof. Nyarko, after being declared the winner by Mr. Dannish Raheem, the Kwadaso Returning Officer of the EC, gave thanks to God and expressed appreciation to the people of Kwadaso for their support to continue to represent them in Parliament.
He promised to work harder to meet the aspirations of the people.
