Fumbisi (U/E), Dec. 9, GNA – Dr Clement Abasinaab Apaak, the Member of Parliament elect for the Builsa South Constituency in the Upper East Region, has pledged his continues support for the development of the area.
“I will continue to advocate for the people of Builsa South, day and night, and that is the solemn pledge I, Dr Clement Abasinaab Apaak continue to make for the people of Builsa South.”
Dr Apaak said this after he overwhelmingly polled 8,974 votes out of 15,674 valid votes cast, while Mr Daniel Kwame Gariba of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) garnered 5,061 votes and Mr Christopher Akanzebola Seidu of the People’s National Convention (PNC), got 1,639 votes.
Total votes cast for the Parliamentary election were 15,958 with 284 rejected ballots.
With the Presidential election, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP polled 4,531 votes out of 15,374 valid votes cast, Mr John Dramani Mahama of the NDC polled 10,540 votes, Mr Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, an Independent Candidate, had 50 votes and Mr Christian Kwabena Andrews of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), 25 votes.
The rest were Mr Daniel Augustus Lartey Jnr, Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), 69, Mr George Twum-Barima-Adu, Independent Candidate, 14, Nana Kwame Bediako, Independent Candidate, 18, and the late Madam Akua Donkor of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), zero.
Mr Hassan Abdulai Ayariga, All People’s Congress (APC), 37, Mr Kofi Akpaloo, Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), 23, Mr Mohammed Frimpong, of the National Democratic Party (NDP) had 14, Nana Akosua Frimpomaa, Convention People’s Party (CPP), 32 and Mr Kofi Koranteng, Independent Candidate, 21.
The Member of Parliament-elect, who is representing the Constituency for the third time, was hopeful that the next NDC government under the leadership of Mr Mahama would address the challenges facing Ghanaians and the people of Builsa South in particular.
He mentioned poor road networks, the lack of electricity in some communities, youth unemployment and challenges of farmers as critical concerns to Constituents.
The MP-elect, who is the Deputy Ranking Member of Parliament’s Education Committee, assured the people that, “I will do my best as the MP for Builsa South, come the ninth Parliament and a member in good standing of the NDC to bring to Builsa South the needed development.”
Dr Apaak thanked his Constituents, Party executives, and supporters for the continued faith reposed in him, saying, “They believe that I am capable of doing more than I have done and they believe that I have been very honest, truthful, and sincere to them.
“Honesty, modesty, and indeed accountability has won the day. It is my solemn pledge that as I am preparing to take up the responsibility of representing the people of Builsa South for a third term, I would be able to do more than I have done in the past,” he said.
