Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry retains New Juaben South seat

Koforidua, Dec. 8, GNA – Mr Michael Okyere Baafi, New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for New Juaben South, has been declared as the winner of the Saturday parliamentary election for the area. 

 Mr Darlington Annan, Returning Officer of the Electoral Commission in the New Juaben South Municipality made the declaration at the end of the collation. 

Mr Baafi,  also Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and the incumbent Member of Parliament for the  constituency,  won the seat with 32,134 votes against his two opponents, Mr Martin Otu Offei from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and Mr Evans Appiah, an Independent parliamentary candidate who had 23,735 and 1,306 votes respectively. 

The total votes cast in the 201 polling stations in the constituency were 57, 517 and the rejected ballots were 342. 

The presidential election results in the New Juaben South constituency showed that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP had 29,261 votes, while Mr John Dramani Mahama of the NDC had 26,261 votes.
