Koforidua, Dec. 09, GNA – The Eastern Regional office of the Electoral Commission (EC) has officially announced the Presidential results for 30 out of the 33 constituencies in the region.
This significant update comes as voters eagerly await the final tallies, which will ultimately determine the next leadership in the aftermath of the December 7, 2024, elections.
With just three constituencies left to report, anticipation continues to grow among the electorate and political observers alike.
Mr John Appiah Baffour, the Eastern Regional Director of the EC announced the collated results from 30 out of the 33 constituencies.
He said there were issues with three constituencies’ presidential results at Suhum, Nsawam-Adoagyire, and Akwatia, and one parliamentary result at Fanteakwa.
He said the Commission would engage stakeholders to resolve them as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the total votes cast were 983,362 and out of which the total valid votes were 961,855 and 21,477 rejected ballots, he said.
The results for the 13 presidential candidates were 493,234 votes representing 51.28 per cent for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had 453,234 votes representing 47.12 per cent, Mr Alan John Kyerematen, Independent Candidate had 1,851 votes, National Democratic Party had 365 votes.
Others were Ghana Union Movement who had 1,507 votes, Great Consolidated Popular Party had 1,244 votes, Akua Donkor of the Ghana Freedom Party had no votes, All People’s Congress had 1,118 votes.
Also, the Liberal Party of Ghana had 344 votes, Convention People’s Party had 1,544 votes, Kofi Koranteng, Independent Candidate had 315 votes, George Twum-Barima-Adu, Independent Candidate had 219 votes, Nana Kwame Bediako, Independent Candidate had 6,910 votes.
