Damongo (S/R), Dec 08, GNA – The West Gonja Municipal Office of the Electoral Commission in the Damongo Constituency of the Savannah Region has been set ablaze.
It is not clear, who were behind the act but tension had been brewing in the area following controversy over the collation of the Parliamentary results of the constituency where the NDC and NPP Candidates claimed victory.
The Ghana News Agency understands security officers including the military had taken over the area trying to calm down the situation.
GNA also learnt many residents remained indoors.
The tension comes in the wake of announcement by the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahumudu Bawumia to have conceded defeat and congratulated Mr John Dramani Mahama, on his victory in the 2024 election.
