Agona Nkwanta (WR), Dec 08, GNA – The Ahanta West constituency erupted in jubilation Sunday morning as supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) celebrated an overwhelming victory in the parliamentary election.
As the Electoral Commission (EC) declared the NDC candidate, Mrs Mavis Kukua Bissue, the winner, hundreds of supporters took to the streets, dancing, singing, and waving flags.
The NDC’s victory was met with widespread excitement, with Mrs Bissue expressing her gratitude to the party’s leadership and the supporters for their hard work and dedication.
The first time winning candidate, who polled an impressive 28,227 against her opponent who polled 19,663 of the total votes cast, thanked the people of Ahanta West for their overwhelming support and promised to work tirelessly to address the constituency’s developmental challenges.
The NDC’s victory in Ahanta West is seen as a significant boost to the party’s fortunes in the Western Region, where it has traditionally been strong.
As the celebrations continued into the day, the NDC supporters vowed to continue their support for the party and its leadership, expressing confidence in the party delivering on its promises.
The peaceful celebration was attended by several high-ranking NDC officials, including the party’s constituency chairman and some members of the constituency council of elders.
The NDC’s victory in Ahanta West is expected to have significant implications for the party’s national fortunes, and the celebrations are likely to continue for several days.
