Accra, Dec. 8, GNA – Hundreds of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters are in celebratory mood in the Krowor Constituency following the New Patriotic Party Flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s concession speech Sunday morning.
Deafening sounds are heard from all directions as some supporters gather in front of the Nungua Police Station in Accra, as vote collation progressed.
Clad in party T-shirts and paraphenelia, they wave NDC flags as loudspeakers, whistles and vuvuzelas work in harmony.
Individuals who spoke to GNA did not hide their excitement, as they await official results from the Electoral Commission (EC).
Niibi Afortey Odai, a supporter, said Ghanaians were ready for change hence the success of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the polls.
“As we speak, NDC have secured seven to nine seats in the Ashanti region…It just shows the volume of work the NDC have done over the years.
“I believe by the time results are declared we will beat them by one million votes in the Presidential election.
“The people of Ghana expressed change. We had no other means than to vote, and so we did it for the good people of Ghana,” he stated.
Prince Donkor, NDC Member, praised Dr Bawumia’s bold decision to concede defeat early.
“It’s a good thought… it’s not easy to concede defeat but Bawumia has done it, so we wish him well.
“Maybe there will be an opportunity for the NPP next time,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia, speaking to the press Sunday morning, thanked his supporters and congratulated Mr John Dramani Mahama for winning the 2024 Presidential Election.
