Accra, Dec. 8, GNA- The Electoral Commission (EC) has expressed worry over what it described as the infiltration of collation centres by some party supporters.
The Commission said its attention had been drawn to incidents of some party leaders urging their party supporters to throng collation centres.
Addressing a press conference at the National Collation Centre Sunday dawn, Mr Samuel Tettey, Deputy EC Chair in Charge of Operations, said the situation was delaying the collation process.
“The parties have the pink sheets so there is no need for supporters to go to the Collation Centres,” he said.
Mr Tettey said at the Tano North Constituency in the Bono Region, some of the supporters had forced the Returning Officer to declare the results without due process.
The Commission cautioned its officers that results declared without due process would not be recognised.
Mr Tettey appealed to the leadership of the parties to withdraw their supporters from the collation centres.
He also appealed to the Police to intervene in the situation to ensure a smooth collation process.
