Sustain the peace as polls end—Police

By Eric Appah Marfo

Accra, Dec. 07, GNA – Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, Ghana Police Service, has urged Ghanaians to sustain the peace throughout the election period and beyond.

“We all would agree that the process has been relatively calm in most locations. We urge everyone to sustain the peace we have enjoyed so far so the process can come to a successful end,” she said.

Speaking on behalf of the National Election Security Task Force (NESTF), ACP Ansah-Akrofi highlighted the collaborative efforts of the public, political parties, and security agencies in ensuring a relatively peaceful election day, despite a few isolated incidents.

She urged stakeholders to work together to address any issues that might arise during the final

stages of the electoral process.

“If you are in a location and there are any issues that need to be resolved, kindly work with the police, the Electoral Commission (EC) and the party agents so that together we can de-escalate and use peaceful means to address any matters,” she advised.

ACP Ansah-Akrofi emphasised the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders — including the EC and political parties — to bring the process to a successful conclusion.

“We therefore want to urge all our stakeholders to continue to work with the National Election Security Task Force, the EC, and the parties to see a successful end to our polls,” she stated.

The NESTF assured the public of their readiness to address any emerging security concerns and promised to provide timely updates, as necessary.

“We will continue to update you as and when any issues of security concern come up. Thank you very much.” ACP Ansah-Akrofi added.

The Police expressed gratitude to citizens for their cooperation so far and called for continued calm as the country moves closer to the announcement of election results.
