Essikado (WR), Dec. 7, GNA – Additional streetlights have been added to the two lights hanging on the electricity pole in front of the Brigade Hall collation centre in the Essikado-Ketan Constituency.
Also, a team in ECG jacket brought in a Generator to augment power supply in the worst-case scenario.
The move is obviously to avert any incidence that might surround the process particularly during collation of votes to enhance the credibility and transparency of the process.
In the 2020 general election, many factors nearly marred the credibility of the elections in that constituency leading to a court case between the incumbent Joe Ghartey and the NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah.
Meanwhile, the process was going on smoothly in the constituency as Presiding Officers in most of the polling centres confirmed receipt of electoral materials on time.
Though voting started between 0710 and 0725 in some of the centres, the hitch was attributed to recordings of the number of materials by party agents, BVD starts and test run.
Enthusiastic voters, however queued patiently amidst some murmuring on delays but in readiness to exercise their franchise.
At the Brigade Hall in Essikado, the aged women were coming in their numbers to vote.
All polling centres visited had security personnel, party agents and other observers in post.
