Voting at St. Justin Anglican Primary delayed

By Morkporkpor Anku

Accra, Dec. 7, GNA- Voting at the Saint Justin Anglican Primary School polling stations 1, 2, and 3 in the Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency, Greater Accra Region, experienced a brief delay at the official start of polls.

Although election materials arrived at 0500 hours, polling officials were still setting up at 0700 hours, the scheduled start time.

Voting eventually began at 0715 hours.

A total of 1,675 voters are expected to cast their ballots across the three polling stations by 1700 hours, with 578 voters at Centre 1, 523 at Centre 2, and 574 at Centre 3.

At the time of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visit, there were no queues at any of the stations, and the BVD machines were functioning properly.

Polling agents from the main political parties arrived early for inspection before any seals were broken. Security personnel were present to ensure law and order at the centres.

The voting process proceeded smoothly, though turnout was low at that point.

Mr. Samuel Kyere, the Presiding Officer at Centre 3, was optimistic that more voters would come in as the day progressed.

A physically challenged elderly voter, who had arrived early, said that he came to vote so he could return home early.

He encouraged others to cast their ballots peacefully and wait for the close of polls.
